In the southern Tauern mountains, at altitudes between 700 and 2,800 meters, you will find the Murau Adventure Region, a unique combination of picturesque mountain landscapes, idyllic valleys and alpine pastures, as well as meadows and forests in lush green.
In the Murau mountain world you will find, among others, the "8 mountain personalities": Preber, Kornock, Kreischberg, Frauenalpe, Grebenzen, Greim, Lachtaler Zinken and the Zirbitzkogel. Each of these mountains stands for its own experience area and offers an individual nature experience. 40 crystal clear natural lakes and impressive waterfalls, including the highest waterfall in Styria, provide refreshment.

Hiking

Whether on foot or with the summer gondola lift to the Kreischberg, the Lachtal or the Turracher Höhe. With the chairlift to the mountain station in the Lachtal, leisurely up to the Frauenalpe, the Grebenzen, the Zirbitzkogel or sporty high up to the Preber. The mountains and forests in Austria's most densely wooded region offer unforgettable, soothing hiking experiences. What it feels like when natural landscape and fresh mountain air meet breathtaking views is best found out for yourself while hiking in the Murau adventure area.

According to this motto, the Murau region scores with an extensive vacation offer for the whole family. Good entertainment? For sure! There are always playgrounds along the hiking and biking trails. Especially the little companions are happy about that. The special thing about the playgrounds in the Murau region is that they are dedicated to different themes. For example, at the wood-water playground in HolzWelt Murau everything revolves around ... of course: the important raw material. On the Turracher Höhe, children and adults can jet down into the valley on the Nocky Flitzer, an alpine roller coaster, or take "time" for the natural beauty at Nocky's Almzeit.

Sustainability - more than just a word
The region is considered a climate and energy model region as well as a European showcase project for sustainable energy production in rural areas. The Murau brewery is the first CO²-neutral brewery in Austria and the region is considered an Austrian pioneer in solar energy. It goes without saying that the businesses in the region largely process products from sustainable agriculture and a large part of the region is self-sufficient in energy in the event of a blackout.
