The spectacular Gorges du Trient are also an invitation to take a change of scenery, with its narrow passage whispering of the geology in its bowels. Built in the mid-19th century to transport travellers from the Rhône plain to Chamonix, the historic Route des Diligences takes hikers and mountain bikers to Finhaut, winding its famous twists and turns for 13 kilometres through unspoilt countryside.
