Preore

The thousand-year-old tradition of the ancient Regole di Spinale e Manez.

Preore lies along the Sarca river at the foot of Monte Amolo (1332 m) before Tione. In the 15th century it was the most important village of the valley: it was the seat of the Vicar of the Prince-Bishop for Val Giudicarie and the seat of the Court of Justice, which was later transferred to Tione. Preore, together with Montagne and Ragoli, still belongs to the millenary institution of the Regola di Spinale e Manez, a community that was created in 1377 and since then has managed the undivided stock of meadows, woods and properties for social purposes.

The famous scholar of Roman law Filippo Serafini (1831-1897), who taught at the universities of Padua, Bologna, Rome and Pisa and was a senator of the Italian Kingdom, was born in Preore.
