Welcome!

With its remarkable natural features, the Tyrolean Lechtal is considered one of the most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes in the Alps.

As a tributary of the Danube, the Lech River retains its unique wild river character, especially in the Tyrolean Lechtal – a natural phenomenon that is unparalleled in Central Europe. Above all, the Lechtal is an exceptional destination for those seeking a nature-oriented holiday. Connoisseurs, those in search of relaxation, active travelers, families, and nature lovers alike will find ample space here to enjoy an authentic mountain experience far from the major tourist centers.

The Lechtal Alps and the Allgäu Alps, two mountain ranges spanning Austria and Germany, are renowned for their striking beauty and diverse landscapes. Majestic peaks, deeply carved valleys, and crystal-clear mountain lakes shape this impressive scenery.

Covering an area of around 41 km² and stretching 62 km in length, the nature park extends from the municipality of Steeg to Vils on the southern German border. It is one of the most valuable natural landscapes in the Alps and offers a truly unique setting for experiencing nature.

The Lech River, with its riparian forests, represents one of the last refuges for numerous plant and animal species that were once widespread in wild river landscapes. This extraordinary biodiversity highlights the area's significant ecological importance.

Within the nature park, visitors can discover botanical rarities such as the lady’s slipper orchid and the German tamarisk, as well as remarkable wildlife including the mottled bush-cricket, the little ringed plover – and even the legendary “Bluatschink”…
