Wingst

The region offers a variety of scenic attractions waiting to be discovered. The Wingst, a hilly forest area between Cuxhaven and Stade, is characterized by lush shades of green forests and the salty North Sea air. Nestled in the marshland and bordered by the ancient valley of the Oste river and moorlands, the Wingst rises with its highest elevations and the "German Olympus" in Cuxland, serving as the "green lung of the North Sea." Popular destinations include the Wingster Waldzoo (forest zoo) and the Spielpark (play park).
Signposted circular hiking trails allow for optimal exploration of the region. The town of Neuhaus an der Oste with its waterski facility and Adventuregolf, as well as the surrounding villages, offer ideal opportunities for holiday experiences and are integrated into the local cycling network. On the Oste river, the passenger ship Mocambo invites visitors for circular tours.

In the Ahlenmoor near Wanna, the largest contiguous moorland area in Cuxland, visitors can explore the North German natural landscape on numerous circular routes by bike, on hikes, or with the moor train. Also worthwhile are the boat trips and relaxed paddling opportunities with canoes on the Medem and Emmelke rivers in Ihlienworth and Otterndorf. The region between the Elbe, Oste, and North Sea invites holidaymakers to take a deep breath and enjoy the diverse nature.
