Soline liegt im Nordwesten der Insel Dugi otok, in der Bucht Solišćica. Diese ist aufgrund ihrer Tiefe ideal für größere Boote und Schiffe.
Benannt wurde der Ort nach den Salzwerken in der Bucht. In der Nähe des Ortes ist der Sandstrand Sakarun, ein beliebtes Reiseziel für alle Besucher von Dugi otok und einer der schönsten Strände an der Adria.
