Omišalj ist die einzige Siedlung, welche in der Bucht von Rijeka von allen Seiten aus sichtbar ist. Auf einer Höhe von 85 Metern dominiert sie auf der nordwestlichen Seite der Insel Krk entlang der fast drei Kilometer langen Bucht.
