Welcome to Beverungen!

Where the Bever flows into the Weser, nestled in a wide basin valley and framed by mountain forests, Charlemagne stayed here around 1,200 years ago. Famous personalities such as Wilhelm Raabe, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, and the Brothers Grimm also enjoyed visiting. Today, around 13,500 people live in the town center of Beverungen (6,100 inhabitants) and its districts Amelunxen, Blankenau, Dalhausen, Drenke, Haarbrück, Herstelle, Jakobsberg, Tietelsen, Rothe, Wehrden, and Würgassen.

Ideal conditions are offered for both peaceful, relaxing holidays and active, stimulating days in a landscape rich in history. Hikers are drawn to numerous attractive trails—whether along steep mountain slopes, in the gentle Weser meadows, in quiet, dark forests, or on windswept plateaus with unforgettable panoramic views. Nature-oriented recreation can be especially enjoyed on the premium hiking trail “Wo der Bock zum Gärtner wird,” the Kreuzweg Jakobsberg ridge and panorama trail, or the Weser-Bever ridge trail.
A truly outstanding viewing experience awaits at the observation platform on one of the striking Hannover Cliffs near Würgassen. Cyclists can fully enjoy themselves on the Weser Cycle Path along the river or on routes along the Diemel, Bever, and Nethe.

A visit to the Dalhausen Basket Maker Museum is undoubtedly a must for every visitor, as is a trip to the nearby Chair Museum in Lauenförde. Pure culture awaits with theater and opera, cabaret and (rock) concerts in the town hall, as well as the popular Blossom Festival or Shooting Festival. Not to forget the Orange Blossom Special at Whitsun or Carnival—after all, people here know how to celebrate.

Trips on the Weser ferries (April–October), water sports, fishing, mini golf, a skate park, cycling and hiking tours, guided city tours, motorhome parking spaces, an ice rink (November–March), and a wide range of gastronomy round off the diverse leisure offerings.
