At the foot of the Duron Valley and the mighty Col Rodella massif lies Campitello di Fassa, a popular holiday destination in both summer and winter. Ancient buildings, rustic ‘tobiè’ (wooden buildings that once served as hay barns), narrow streets and characteristic alleyways take every visitor back in time. In fact, Campitello was the first tourist centre of the Val di Fassa. The ‘Mulino’ and ‘Agnello d'Oro’ hotels were the first to accommodate hikers and well-known international scientists who were fascinated by the uniqueness of the valley.
From the village, the modern and spacious cable car takes you over the picturesque village of ‘Pian’ and up to the summit, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama. The rocky spire of the Sassolungo presents itself majestically before the marvelling eyes of all hikers.
In winter, Campitello becomes an oasis for winter sports enthusiasts: modern lifts and perfectly groomed pistes offer skiers and snowboarders a unique skiing experience. Thanks to the Sellaronda, it is also possible to cross the neighbouring Ladin valleys on skis.
In spring and autumn, the sky over Campitello is coloured with many colourful sails. The best wind conditions, unique landscapes and breathtaking panoramas offer all hang-gliders and paragliders an extraordinary experience.
Campitello gives you vitality: a walk, a hike on one of the many mountain trails or an excursion into the beautiful Duron Valley, surrounded by meadows, forests and typical mountain huts and crossed by the crystal-clear waters of the Duron stream, awaken the senses. For shepherds and traders, this valley has long served as a link between Alpe di Siusi, Castelrotto, Tires and the Val di Fassa.
In the immediate vicinity of the Col Rodella valley station, surrounded by the greenery of the footpath that connects Campitello with Canazei, is the new and modernly equipped Ischia sports centre, which includes a climbing wall and a golf practice course.
In the past, the production of local products such as butter, milk and cheese was one of the most important activities of the local economy. Even today, these gastronomic delicacies can still be recognised by their incomparable aroma and flavour, as they are produced with the same passion as in the past. Even the so-called ‘Ciampedel de Fascia’, a cheese with a particularly intense flavour, is produced in small quantities at the ‘Caseificio Sociale di Campitello’ dairy, just as it was 40 years ago, so that none of its special characteristics are lost.
