    In un’Italia appena uscita del secondo conflitto mondiale, è sul Falzarego che Coppi per la prima volta vince la sfida in salita con Bartali, che proprio sulle Dolomiti Cadorine aveva minacciato il ritiro. Qui nel passaggio del 2004 si fa notare Damiano Cunego, su un Falzarego gremitissimo di appassionati, in cui troneggia una scritta "Siete in tanti ma ne manca uno", in memoria dell’appena scomparso Pantani.
