Sentiero Tanaro: Tappa 17 Frabosa Soprana (Fraz.Fontane) - Ormea (Rifugio Valcaira)

From the Borgata Fontane, continue south going up the Corsaglia stream, until you reach a bridge in the Borello - Loca area. Murao bridge at 977 meters. From here, continue to the left leaving the crossroads of the E01 path on the right. Go up the Corsaglia stream via an easy dirt road and beech woods (route E06) passing through the locality of Stalla Rossa until you reach a plateau in the locality of Rio della Ciappa with a small mountain pasture building. Here the dirt road is closed with a bar blocking access to motorized vehicles. (about 5 km from the start - 1350 m). From here you continue on a dirt road that goes up to the sources of the Corsaglia in the direction of Stalla Revelli up to an altitude of 1600 m. Here the dirt road turns into a path on a rocky surface which quickly climbs up to the 1800 m altitude of the Vallone della Conca Revelli (seat of the Bivacco Cavarero - crossroads on the right). Leave the crossroads on the right and continue left to the south along the slopes of the Colla del Pizzo valley along a steep alpine path with hairpin bends; from Colla del Pizzo (2150 asl) you then go back down to the beautiful Lago del Pizzo to go up the coast along the slopes of Pizzo di Ormea and reach a grassy collar at an altitude of 2170 m. From here you go back down quickly to the Valcaira refuge.
