The entire route runs alongside the ski slopes and you’re never far from a point of access to the ski lifts – in fact, sometimes they pass by right above your head! There are several dining options along this route which boast south-facing terraces and extraordinary views.
The hike begins with a climb up to Plans-Mayens and continues until the Arnouva restaurant, and its children's snow park, a true paradise where the little ones can learn to ski. The hike then passes through Vermala and close to its emblematic tower. But there’s no need to climb the tower to enjoy the magnificent view of the Rhône valley which is already right before your eyes.
To reach the next stage at Marolires, there are two tunnels which allow you to cross the “Piste Nationale”, famous here since three Swiss skiers won all the podium medals for the downhill event at the 1987 World Championships. Nowadays, the World Cup piste at Mont-Lachaux also plays host to the world’s best skiers. Once in Plumachit, you can enjoy its large, sunny terrace before starting the descent to Aminona, where you will see the small rural chapel of Aprili keeping watch. From Aminona, you can return to Crans-Montana by public transport.
