Description

Marathon Skate is Europe's first circuit course that extends over the original marathon distance. The course can also be used by runners who want to test their endurance on the approximately 42 km route. The course has some tricky changes of direction as well as several ramps and inclines from the Rhine dam down to ground level, thereby simulating a competition course.

The ideal starting point is the Aegeten sports centre in Widnau where, in addition to changing rooms and showers, good recreational facilities are also available. If you are not in a rush to set a course record, you can stop at the swimming pool at the southern turning point in Oberriet, which is located right next to the course.

Marathon Skate blends into the landscape, running along inland canals and through old poplar-lined boulevards. Off in the distance are the mountains of the Alpstein, a sub-group of the Appenzell Alps, and the gentle hills of the Appenzell region.
