Description
The path is very simple and goes between meadows and woods, away from busy roads. It can be easily traveled on foot, aided by Nordic Walking poles to facilitate walking, or by Mountain Bike; it is a flat road that can be approached without any difficulty even with a stroller.

The Old Railway allows you to enjoy the tranquility and unspoiled nature of the Altopiano. You can admire meadows and pastures that for centuries have represented both the natural frame of the inhabited centers, and the source of sustenance for the breeding of sheep and cattle, that today are so precious for the production of milk that, once transformed, becomes the delicious Asiago DOP Cheese.

Directions
The route takes place, for most of the journey, along the old railway once crossed by the cogwheel locomotive that from Piovene Rocchette arrived at the station of Asiago, now cycle-pedestrian road. The route starts from the back of the building of the Old Asiago station and continues towards the station of Canove and for those who wish to go to the following stations of the Municipality of Roana.

Historical note: The railway line Piovene Rocchette-Asiago was inaugurated in 1910, with the aim of promoting the development of the Plateau encouraging trade and the take-off of tourism. The train, which was a rack-and-pinion train, was renamed "Vaca Mora" and remained in operation until 1955.

The road is almost entirely flat or slightly downhill. Initially you will walk on an asphalt track passing a parking lot at the gates of the city, until you reach the Consortium of Dairies. Here you need to pay some attention when crossing the street and parking the supermarket. Remaining left, you return to the cycle-pedestrian track, and you will continue the path on a dirt road with almost no slope and for this reason ideal for carrying out the activity of Nordic Walking and jogging.

After about 2 km from the start, you reach the station of Canove di Roana, now transformed into the Museum of the Great War. Continuing you reach Waister where you cross the asphalt road.

Here you can choose the length of the path - we propose 3 alternatives:

WAISTER FARM AND THE RETURN ROAD - short tour - Once at the asphalt road, leave the railway and turn left, continue towards the farm Waister. For about 300 m the path is downhill and then for another 350 m there will be a curve climb that leads to the top of the road where the farm is located. In this stretch, although it is little frequented by cars, you have to pay attention and walk on the left side of the road. At the top of the road, on the left there is a dirt road that leads to houses. After passing the houses the road continues on the top of a small hill in a grassy path and after about 600m on the road of the Old Train. Here, turning right, you return to the station of Asiago, retracing the route in the opposite direction. FROM CANOVE TO CESUNA AND BACK - medium tour - After passing the asphalt road continue straight downhill passing initially inhabited houses and after a few meters the dirt road that leads inside the forest. From here for the next 5 km the railway road will cross the mixed forest of spruce and beech until you reach the parking lot of the market of Cesuna where the itinerary can end. The return will be on the outward road until returning to the station of Asiago. FROM CESUNA TO CAMPIELLO - long tour - Once in Cesuna take the tunnel about 500 m long to come out on the opposite side in a picnic area where you can, through the signs, read the history of the Old Railway. From Cesuna to get to our final destination you have to make another 5 km where you need a battery for mandatory crossings in very dark tunnels. The final destination is the station of Campiello, today also the almost last arrival of the Railway. From here to go back you have to go backwards all the path made previously, for this reason we recommend a good workout and a morning departure equipped with water and some energy bars or sandwiches to support the long journey.
