- Description

Trail (no. 42) which takes you directly to the Rehbachschlucht gorge shows off nature at its most beautiful. You walk along narrow paths and across a few bridges, all the time enjoying the wonderful fragrances of the forest. There’s much to marvel at here, especially for young hikers: small waterfalls, large boulders in the water and mighty ancient trees can be found along the narrow paths. You’ll be amazed at how the time flies. Perhaps you’ll stop and spend a few minutes sitting on one of the bridges and listening to the roar of the wild mountain stream. To return follow the signs to Leitenhof (trail no. 41) and back to Scheffau.
For the active family: At the end of the gorge you hike a bit further up to the Hinterschiesslingalm mountain hut, where you can enjoy wonderful views and a hearty snack at a height of 1,000 metres.
What to look out for along the way:
The horsetail, a special and rare plant, can be found growing on the banks of the Rehbach stream. The horsetail stands out thanks to its bamboo-like stems and green leaves that are reminiscent of ferns.
Rehbachklamm gorge is a top tip for hot summer days. - Directions
