- Description
-
Start the hike at the cable car in Scheffau and follow the yellow signs to Brandstadl (trail no. 40). At first turn to the right at the bridge, go past the backside of Hotel Waldhof Resort and then straight ahead on the asphalt road. In the forest, turn right and follow the hiking trail past the Berggasthof Hochlechen to Neualm. From there, continue uphill and past the Tanzbodenalm on the right to the Brandstadl mountain restaurant. Once at the top, the "KaiserWelt" invites you into the forest adventure play area. A circular path leads you to the Brandstadl summit cross and the Jochstub'n lake. The valley can either be reached by cable car or on the panorama trail to Hartkaiser and from there on the path no. 1 via Schmiedalm, mountain restaurant Hochschwendt and the farmer's house "Egg" back to Scheffau.
- Directions
-
Although this excursion starts at the Bergbahn Scheffau valley station, you should walk past this to the Hotel Waldhof Resort before continuing towards Ellmau (trail no. 40). When you come to the forest, bear right and follow the hiking trail to Brandstadl. After the Neualm refreshment stop, make a sharp right turn past the Hühneralm and head up to the Brandstadl mountain restaurant. Here, you can explore the adventure playground in the forest at “KaiserWelt” leisure park before taking a circular walk to Jochstub’n See lake. When you need to head back down again, you can either take the gondola lift or continue on the panoramic trail to the Hartkaiser mountain. This latter option subsequently involves following trail no. 1 past the Schmiedalm, the Hochschwendt refreshment stop and Egg farm as you make your way back to Scheffau.
