Description
Start from the Stripsenjochhaus mountain hut heading south on path 812. After the first steep section, turn on to the “Wildanger” and walk south on the Eggersteig trail towards the Ellmauer Tor. Heading along the exposed crossing, which is secured in some sections, you come to the Steinerne Rinne cirque. This is one of the most fascinating trails, taking you on a seemingly endless climb up into the Ellmauer Tor. When the weather is good, you will be able to see climbers on the rock faces of the Fleischbank and Predigtstuhl mountains. Soak up the impressions provided by the “heart of the Wilder Kaiser region”. A relaxing break with views to the north and south awaits you at Ellmauer Tor.

TIP for experienced mountain enthusiasts: Ascent to the Hintere Goinger Halt (2,192 m)
If you still have enough strength - you can also climb to the summit of the Hintere Goinger Halt (2,192 m) in about 45 minutes. The path is narrow, exposed (especially in the area shortly before the summit) and only secured with an iron chain in a short passage. The panoramic view, however, is worthwhile, especially with the views into the "interior" of the Wilder Kaiser to the Fritz-Pflaum mountain hut.

Descent:
Now follow path 812, descending through the wide screes of the Kübelkar cirque and a short passage secured with ropes. Keep heading south until you reach the Gaudeamushütte mountain hut. Enjoy a well-deserved refreshment and let your impressions pass in review with a fantastic panorama. The last part of the tour you hike comfortably on the forest road in about 30 min downhill to the Wochenbrunner Alm.

Make the descent to Ellmau with the hiking bus Wochenbrunner Alm and travel to Going with the bus for hikers and bathers "KaiserJet", or walk the first stage of the Kaiserkrone in the opposite direction. This latter option will bring you back to the starting point of the Kaiserkrone in Going.

Requirements: a good head for heights and surefootedness; helmet for protection against rock fall
Recommended: via ferrata set, climbing harness
