- Description
-
The approach is significantly shorter in spring, when the toll road to the Griesner Alm is open (normally from the end of March). From the parking lot, we cross a stream and follow the summer path first up over an open meadow, then through the steep forest in the direction of the Fritz Pflaum Hut.
At the edge of the forest, we cross eastwards over a ridge covered in mountain pines, which will lead us to the Grosse Griesner Kar cirque. At approximately 1600 vertical meters, we keep to the left, overcome a steep section and then continue through gullies and hollows (following the summer path) to the Fritz Pflaum Hut, which stands on a kind of saddle. From here a variety of north(east)-facing gullies and cols reveal themselves, ready for fresh tracks in the snow when conditions are safe.
