- Description
-
Beautiful freeride descent from Pengelstein into the Saukasergraben with a few short challenging passages and wide slopes.
- Directions
-
From Pengelstein in the direction of the 3S lift, past it and a few metres, as you like, south along the ridge. Descend south-east towards the Hochsaukaser lift, but instead of the usual traverse to the lift, continue down into the ditch. At the end of this first long slope, keep to the right for the easier exit, a little steeper on the left and more bushes. Descend to the forest road (altitude approx. 1550m). Short ascent along the path in a southerly direction until you reach the wide open slopes. There follows a beautiful descent on these to a prominent high point. There a short, narrow steep section until you reach the forest road, on which you continue to the Saukasergrabenweg and further out of the valley until you reach the barrier. There you have two options: 1) Continue to the bus stop (cross the bridge and then continue parallel to the Saukaserbach to Bundenstrasse, bus stop right there). 2) Shoulder your skis and walk about 10-15min to Jochberg and take the Wagstättlift back to the ski area. Alternatively, lazy people can take a taxi to Jochberg or Kitzbühel.
