- Description

The outline of the Rhönpaulus greets us at the starting point. As the hero of the adventure trail, he is now our companion and tells us about himself and about the yew trees in the Ibengarten. We continue to Glattbach, where the Rhön robber spent much of his life and was finally executed. He was brought from the prison to the execution site in a specially made cage so that he could not escape. Who dares to climb into the cage on Neuberg? After the field bridge we come to the Ibengarten. Shortly before the edge of the forest, a wonderful vantage point awaits us with a view of the orchid-rich limestone meadows in the Feldatal and the surrounding Rhön Mountains. A dense beech forest follows, which blocks our view of the mountains. Now it's time to watch out: who will see the primeval old yew trees first? They form a green tunnel that leads up the Neuberg. Explorers can complete a robber language course here or take a journey through time through the history of the forest and learn something about the luck of the yew and yew worries. The Rhönpaulushöhle is the last stop on the route. Here you can take a leisurely snack break or go on a discovery tour in the robber's hiding place. Who will find the robber's treasure?

The tourist routes of the Rhön are mostly used by other active people (hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers, riders, cross-country skiers, etc.).
We ask all active nature sports enthusiasts to show consideration for one another. The same applies of course to nature - it is worth protecting. In the Rhön, therefore, nature sports should only be practiced in daylight on designated paths and areas.
- Tips
-
Those who don't have that much stamina can start in Glattbach or at the edge of the forest near the Ibengarten car park. This makes the path a wonderful experience for the whole family - and especially the little ones!
