- Description
-
You start by crossing the famous dam, where agent 007 a.k.a. James Bond bungee-jumped 220 metres down in the film GoldenEye. Other brave souls can also do this between the months of April and October. A gentle ascent leads to Mergoscia. With Lake Vogorno at your feet and Lake Maggiore at your back, you have a wonderful panorama. Mergoscia boasts a public bread oven (still in operation) and a church that's regarded as a "place of power".
The trail then leads through a chestnut forest to the hamlet of Perbio, complete with a bench for enjoying the view. Corippo is tucked into the slope and it has just 12 inhabitants.
A bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno route) can be caught at Corippo, Bivio (approx. 1 km). You then go up and down the emerald green river to Lavertezzo where the two-arched bridge "Ponte dei Salti" is situated.
Return by bus on the Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno route. The tour can be completed in both directions; restaurants are available in Mergoscia, Corippo and Lavertezzo.
