Tegna is start and end point of the tour and can be reached by car or the Centovalli Railway (Locarno-Domodossola). The hike starts steeply and continues up to the Castelliere. The "Castelliere" (prehistoric ruins), located on a ledge, were restored over several years and completed in 2018. Remains from Roman times and the Middle Ages have been found at this historical monument of national importance. The view from here over the two rivers Maggia and Melezza and the Lake Maggiore is fantastic. The path leads on the other side down to the valley and along the Maggia river to Ponte Brolla. A view down into the impressive gorge "Orrido", which is finely polished by the water and through which the clear river meanders. There are several restaurants in Ponte Brolla. Take the side road back to Tegna, where again the Centovalli Railway runs (train connection also from Ponte Brolla).
