- Description
-
If the morning fog lingers and the sun shines not far from it in the heights, the cloudy weather can affect your mind. There is a tendency to withdraw, although getting out and moving around is an effective treatment.
The path by the lake in Altaussee begins at the church and runs at the foot of the Loser in the sun along the north bank towards Seewiese at the eastern end of the lake. Most of the time it leads beautifully along the water, only occasionally interrupted by a small piece of forest.
The area on the shores of the eastern end of the lake is called Seewiese. There you first cross the ground moraine of an Ice Age glacier. The path continues towards the south bank over an alluvial cone. The lake meadow is littered with blocks from a rock fall.
On the south bank, the path runs most of the time through the forest before the lake opens to the west. We return to our starting point at the parking lot in front of the church via the alluvial cone on the west bank.

If the morning fog lingers and the sun shines not far from it, it depresses the mood. However, a day trip to the mountains for the sun is an effective remedy.
The "Weg am See" in Altaussee begins at the church and runs at the southern foot of the Loser, whose striking, fort-like rocky peak can be seen from afar when you approach the lake .
Most of the time, the path goes beautifully by the water, only occasionally it is interrupted by a small piece of forest. The area on the shores of the eastern end of the lake is called Seewiese. There you first cross the ground moraine of an Ice Age glacier. The path continues over an alluvial cone towards the south bank. The lake meadow is littered with blocks from an Ice Age rock fall.
On the south bank, the path runs mostly through the forest before the lake opens to the west. Over the alluvial cone of the west bank, on which the village of Altaussee is located, you pass two large buildings, the Seevilla, a hotel and the Vivamayr, a health center. From here we pass a few typical Aussee wooden houses before we get back to our starting point at the parking lot at the church of Altaussee.
