Description
The apple village has a special climate. The warm days and cool nights are perfect for fruit growing. Only here do the apples get their intense aroma. That is why there are more apple trees around Puch than anywhere else; three out of four Styrian apples come from here. The fruit growers refine many of them into juices, cider and schnapps. The innkeepers on the Apple Road conjure up specialties from the fruit. For example, all vintages of the "Abakus" are bricked into the church wall; this noble brandy is only opened after 100 years.

In Elz stands as an archway the largest apple in the world, in Harl the "cathedral of the apple", the large fruit warehouse. In the "House of the Apple" the history of fruit-growing is presented, and here you can taste the fruit in liquid form and as a juicy pastry. The gravestone of Ignaz Weberhofer, Peter Rosegger's forest schoolmaster, is right next door. When the great poet visited him, it was for him "A journey to paradise".

Directions
We start the circular walk at the Puch municipal office. From here we walk through the village, past the parish church of St. Oswald in the direction of Harl.

Turn right at the Hoadnbauerkapelle and continue uphill past the Hofersiedlung.

After the forest turn left and follow the forest road, past the Hoader homestead, on to Hinterkulm. On the hill we follow the markings to the Sattelwirt.

From the Sattelwirt we walk in the direction of Kulmstraße and after about 50 m we turn into the forest road. This is marked with the No.9 green-white-green.

We follow the signs and so we go back in the direction of Apfeldorf Puch.

A few tips for correct and fair behavior in the forest:

(Source: www.bundesforste.at )

Hikers should avoid visits to the forest about 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wildlife is particularly active during this time. Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts & Co have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any trash in the forest. Camping and making fire - is strictly forbidden in the forest! Basically, each person is allowed to collect 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day in the forest for personal use. It is only forbidden if the forest owner expressly prohibits it.
