From the parking lot in Fisching near Weißkirchen follow the asphalt road in the direction of Murwald. After the bridge over the B77 keep to the right, signposted R2-Murradweg or in the direction of cycle junction 30.
In the Murwald it goes briefly downhill to the next fork in the road. Keep left here. Continue along the asphalt road. On the right hand side you will see an artificially created branch of the Mur - a fish ladder. Pass the bicycle junction 30 and continue to the wharf of the hydroelectric power plant. Turn around again and follow the asphalt road back towards Judenburg in the Murtal adventure region.
Out of the forest along the asphalt road with a good view of Judenburg to the bike junction 31. Turn left, a slight climb follows. Immediately after the climb continue left onto the gravel path. A small, easily overlooked trail arrow here points the direction to "Maria Buch". Between Murwald and the Murbodner fields, the trail leads back. In the middle of the way back you pass the large wayside cross to Maria Buch.

From the parking lot in Fisching we go along the asphalt road in the direction of Murwald. We are on the Murradweg R2 and the route is suitable for extensive walks, running laps as well as easy bike rides. Cross the overpass over the B77. After the overpass, keep to the right in the direction of Murwaldweg, following the signs for the Murradweg or in the direction of Radknotenpunkt 30.
The path leads us between the Murbodn fields. Corn, grain, potatoes and for some years now also pumpkins grow here in the middle of the Mur valley.
We come into the Murwald and after a few meters downhill we keep to the left at the fork in the road, always following the R2 - Murradweg. An information bay on the "Fisching hydroelectric power plant" invites you to take your first break.
From here we continue along the asphalt road. To the right is an artificially constructed branch of the Mur - a 350 meter long fish ladder. With beautiful views of this arm of the Mura, you really immerse yourself in the nature of the Mura forest. Ducks and swans like to frolic here.

Dress appropriately for a hike:
Wear weather-appropriate, durable clothing. In any case, the clothing should protect you from possible rain and cold or sun and heat.
Even low mountain ranges often hold meteorological surprises. It is not uncommon, even in June, for a cold snap to occur at higher altitudes (so-called sheep cold).
Sandals, bathing slippers, even sneakers are not the appropriate footwear for a hike.
Use hiking boots with ankle protection. Make sure they have a good tread and grip. After downpours, it can be very slippery in the forest, even in summer, on roots, leaves and stones. - Safety instructions
-
In order to really enjoy a hike in the Zirbenland and relax, please note the following points:
Plan your stages according to your condition and ability. Take your time. Divide your strength very well, take enough breaks.
There are very long sections. Not everywhere there are possibilities to stop for refreshments. For a long-distance hiker it goes without saying that he should have enough drinks (and snacks) with him.
Adapt your behavior to the respective conditions, both meteorological and ground conditions. Study the weather forecast daily.
Pay attention to yourself and other hikers. - Tips
-
If you want to be on the road longer, you can take one of the many paths to Maria Buch and visit the pilgrimage church here.
