- Description
-
From Weichselboden along forest roads to the Edlbodenalm via the Gschödererkar, the Siebenbrunner Kogel and the Schistlhaus to the highest peak of the Hochschwab massif!
- Directions
-
From Weichselboden, car park along summer trail 832 on the forest road towards Edelbodenalm. At the spring, continue up the forest road and turn right (detour through the forest). Shortly before the Edelbodenalm, take the forest road that branches off to the right.
After a hairpin bend in the forest road, turn right and after about 100 m leave the forest road to the left at the small clearing and cross into the forest. Take the mostly visible trail coming from the Edelbodenalm to above the tree line at about 1300 m. Above the forest, cross to the forest road. Above the forest, cross to the entrance to the cirque. In the Gschöderer Kar, then straight up over a beautiful wide gully. Ascend to the right to the elevation in the upper Gschöderer Kar and now bypass this elevation to the left. Then ascend to the Siebenbrunner Kogel. Either first climb up to the right into the saddle (partly steep traverse) and bypass the Kogel westwards or better cross the Siebenbrunner Kogel (2044 m) directly along the ridge (do not tread on the woods under any circumstances). From the summit of the Kogel then a short descent into a beautiful gully and a short ascent in this gully to the signpost at the Schiestlhaus. Follow the marked ski touring trail southwards to the Hochschwab summit.
