Description

A bike tour for the senses! Culinary, historical and scenic highlights are offered by the Water and Wine Tour, which starts and ends in Kaindorf. Several historic buildings, including a pilgrimage church, several chapels and two castles (Herberstein and Schielleiten) can be explored on this circular route as well as delicacies for our palate. Numerous wine taverns and restaurants are just waiting to be visited by us and offer regional delicacies. All those who love flora and fauna should plan a detour to the Herberstein Animal World with its garden castle! And for those who want to taste their way through the region, there is the Höfler oil mill with farm shop.

Directions

Start: Kaindorf, at the multi-purpose hall (on the B54)

Marking: continuous wine & water tour

We start at the information board and head south along the cycle path parallel to the main road. At the Hartl business park, we turn left downhill after the kitchen studio. Before the bridge, we turn left uphill towards "Frauenhofen". At the "Frauenhofen" signpost, turn right and continue in the direction of "Auffen". Immediately after Rohregg, we turn right and continue in the direction of "Großsteinbach". At the GH Koch/Wegkreuz inn, we turn right and head towards "Maria Fieberbründl". At the next junction, we keep left and continue towards "Maria Fieberbründl". On the hill - the Kulm is in front of us - we turn left downhill to "Maria Fieberbründl/Stubenbergsee". At the next junction, we turn right onto the cycle path. We have now reached the pilgrimage site of Maria Fieberbründl and should take a break to visit the small church. The path now leads directly past the pilgrimage church and out to the left. When we reach the main road, we turn right over the bridge onto the R8/Feistritztal cycle path, with the church of St. Johann bei Herberstein in front of us on the hill. In St. Johann bei Herberstein, we cross the Feistritz at the large bridge and continue along the R8.

At the crossroads at the parking lot for the Herberstein animal world, we turn right uphill and join the HB8/Hofkirchentour.

Passing the Schielleiten ponds on the left, we reach the junction with the main road.

We cross the main road and continue straight ahead.

Passing vineyards and wine taverns, we reach the ridge and now have a view of the Pöllau valley.

We ride through Hofkirchen, past the Ballonhotel Thaller and turn left towards "St. Stefan".

We have now reached St. Stefan with its striking Gothic chapel and turn right onto the HB18/Safental cycle path.

We now continue straight ahead in a south-easterly direction, through the villages of Dreihöf and Riegelhöf.

We now pass the Steirerteich pond on the left before reaching the main road again.

We cross the main road and have now reached the parking lot at the multi-purpose hall again.

Fair play rules for cyclists

Plan your tour carefully! Check your bike before you set off! Always ride with the right protective equipment! Cycle with a helmet at all times! Don't forget all your equipment (repair kit, first aid kit, etc.)! Only ride on marked paths! Observe the road traffic regulations! Observe driving bans and keep to opening times! Control your speed! Do not leave any tracks! Respect other nature users! Show consideration for animals (only ride in daylight & close pasture fences)! Avoid noise and garbage! Use the cycle paths at your own risk! Beware of working machines, wood or potholes on the road, grazing livestock and vehicle traffic (forest roads are working areas and workplaces)!

Tips

For a real kernel oil experience, we recommend the Höfler oil mill in Kaindorf. In addition to tastings, there is also a local delicatessen with regional products.
