- Description
-
The Gröndahlhaustour from the bike hub 67 left downhill to the Kreunzung state road and right further slightly ascending past the entrance of the witch path in Rachau in the adventure region Murtalin styria. Directly in the center of the village in front of the Pizzeria Sempre in the Rachauer Stadl you continue left on a narrow winding road of the Tiefenbachgraben, first on asphalt, then somewhat steeper on a gravel road to the romantic alpine hut Gröndahlhaus. A magnificent view can be enjoyed from the terrace or the deck chairs to the west of the Murtal and the northern slopes of the Seckau Alps, the Zirbitzkogel and the Niedere Tauern.
For refreshment there is a farmer's bread topped with roast pork, cheese or bacon, hearty soups, crispy Ofenbratl or homemade cakes and strudels. The menu varies according to the season. It's the small and lovely details that the Gröndahlhaus places great value on. So it can happen that you find one or the other daisy on the Steirerkäsebrot in summer. High-quality fruit nectars, award-winning brandies, openly poured bouteille wines as well as Nespresso coffee and a selection of organic teas make the heart of connoisseurs beat faster. Well fortified, the route now continues downhill on gravel and asphalt to Rachau, where you can stop for a bite to eat at the Italian restaurant in Rachauer Stadl. Now it goes comfortably with only a short climb back to the starting point.

- Safety instructions

Please note on the way up - but especially on the way down - that the road is used by the public and in autumn there is no sun along the stream and the asphalt there can be very wet. Take special care on the descent at the crossing in Rachau!
Walkers and hikers always have priority. A friendly and considerate approach to pedestrians is a prerequisite. In case of encounters, it is important to make yourself heard with the bell and pass slowly. Walking paths and hiking trails may not be used by mountain bikes.
Our nature and landscape is virtually untouched and beautiful. To keep it that way, we ask holidaymakers to avoid litter and unnecessary noise. In order not to disturb the animals, the mountain bike trails should only be used during the day:
from 1 June to 15 September from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
from 16 September to 31 October from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Ride only on approved, marked trails and never off the beaten track. On the forest paths, the road traffic regulations must be observed!
As with driving a car, you should always ride on sight when mountain biking. On the frosty roads, wood on the roadway and motor vehicles are to be expected.
If you come across grazing animals on the trail, reduce your speed to walking pace to avoid wrong reactions of the animals. Please always close grazing gates!
Correct self-assessment is necessary in any sport! Do not overexert yourself in terms of technique and physical condition. This also helps to avoid accidents.
- Tips
-
After the slightly strenuous ascent to the Gröndahlhaus, you can indulge yourself in the deck chair behind the house and enjoy the unique view of the Mur valley and the mountains. There is even the possibility to have a sunset picnic there. For a stopover we ask you to note the opening hours at the Gröndahlhaus or better ask by phone.
