Description
Mountain bikers start in the village of Wildalpen or at Jausenstation Karin's Stub'n and the LI 3 cycle path leads through an aqueduct of the II Vienna HochQuellen water pipeline to the turn-off to the Krumpenalm.

The Krumpen - Abbrenn connoisseur mountain bike route begins at the junction. A forest road (gravel) now leads up to the lovely, unspoilt, gentle Krumpenalm, then the climb steepens and you can enjoy the view of the Riegerin, Grießstein, Ebenstein on the Hochschwab mountains and also the Kräuterin in the Ybbstaler Alps.

Having reached about the highest point at the Klammsattel, the road now leads long and slightly downhill to the Abbrenn. Here you get a glimpse of the last remaining primeval forest and the views fall into the protected area of the Dürrenstein Wilderness Area. You reach a quite traditional and original forester's lodge, in a very rustic area.

A few more bends along the forest road and you end up very remotely at the junction in the Schneckengraben and come back to the LI 3 cycle path (rather no mobile reception). However, the mountain bike route for connoisseurs Krumpen - Abbrenn does not end at the starting point.

The mountain bike route is signposted in both directions.

When continuing, mountain bikers can choose whether to return via the Hühnermauer (chicken wall) along the LI 3 cycle path or take the easier, longer route via Fachwerk or extend the route on the conventional road into the Rotwald.

Have fun on your biking day in Wildalpen!
