Welcome to St.Veit im Mühlkreis

The municipality of Sankt Veit im Mühlkreis is located in the southeast of the district of Rohrbach. It was first mentioned in a document in 1209, when a Sighardus de sancto Vito appeared as a witness to a legal act. One of the most outstanding personalities in St.Veit was certainly *Hans Schnopfhagen, the composer of the Upper Austrian state anthem.

On an area of 16.24 km² live today 1,205 inhabitants (according to the last census) at an altitude of 686 m above sea level. The local economy offers a wide range of local supplies. It ranges from a car repair shop, carpenter's shop, electrician, building supplies, shoe store, supermarket and computer store to the Raiffeisen bank, post office, bakery, cafe and inn.

On the initiative of the Trachtenmusikverein, a partnership with the Italian community of San Vito Romano was established in July 2006. For several years now there have been regular meetings of the volunteer fire department with the comrades from Büchlberg in Bavaria. Together with the Sportunion, these associations organize the annual St.Veiter Seefest, to which visitors from near and far flock to the festival grounds.
