Welcome to the region of St. Georgen am Laengsee
Two of the most beautiful places in Carinthia await visitors to the tourist community of St. Georgen am Laengsee. On the one hand it is the picturesque lake itself, on the other hand it is the "picture book castle" Hochosterwitz, which has long become the secret landmark of Carinthia.
Idyllically nestled between richly wooded mountains at an altitude of 560 metres above sea level the Laengsee reaches up to 27 degree.
Places of interest
St. Georgen am Laengsee not only boasts one of the most beautiful landscapes in Carinthia, but is also rich in cultural assets such as castles, fortresses, churches, chapels, old farms, culturally valuable buildings, natural monuments, wayside shrines and crosses. These sights can also be easily reached by foot.
For golfing guests, we have the 18 hole Jacques Lemans golf course St. Veit/Längsee in the immediate vicinity of the Laengsee.
Due to the favourable location and the pleasantly mild climate, the wine also thrives excellently. Already in the 12th century, the region was used for winegrowing. In the meantime, successful winegrowers are again busy with the cultivation, it is Carinthia's largest wine-growing region in terms of area.
Tradition and cuisine are particularly important here. The landlords spoil with regional delicacies from the Carinthian cuisine, lovingly prepared with regional products, often from their own garden.
