Abtenau: sun- winter walk

Moderately difficult hike through the wintry landscape in Abtenau. The winter hiking trail leads past gentle hills and magnificent vantage points.

The hike begins at the northern end of the east car park. Walk along the goods road to the Schratten district and turn left at the wooden sign "Zur Sonnleit'n" onto the ascending access road to the inn. After 300m you reach the inn with its own farm cheese dairy (farm shop open on Fridays), from where there is a magnificent panorama over Abtenau and the Tennengebirge mountains.

Follow a pleasant hiking trail first through the quiet forest and then across a landscape covered in deep snow towards the Fliehof schnapps distillery.  At the junction, the trail again follows the asphalt road towards Abtenau with a constant view of the Tennengebirge. Once again you come to a crossroads, where you continue walking straight ahead until you reach a row of houses. The path continues straight downhill into the centre of the village.

Take your time and enjoy the view of the landscape.

Coming from Vienna on the A1 or from Munich on the A9, junction Salzburg and continue on the A10 - Tauernautobahn, exit Golling-Abtenau, exit 28 or exit Lammertal-Hüttau, exit 56/60 and then on the Lammertal-Bundesstraße to Abtenau.
