The name gives it away - this hike, like so many others, offers a magnificent panorama. But that is not all. We have two more insider tips for you along the way. We start at the Arthurhaus, or more precisely at the Schweizerhütte alpine dairy. Follow trail no. 84, climbing 285 meters to the top of the high wedge. The fabulous panoramic view is guaranteed to make up for every effort. Dive into the peaks and rocks of the Hohe and Niedere Tauern, the Tennengebirge and the Hochkönig with its spectacular Mandlwände. On the way back you should definitely make a detour to the mountain lake at Troiboden - this is our first insider tip. The second is of culinary nature. If you don't taste the homemade mountain mozzarella at the end of the tour at the Schweizerhütte, you are missing something.

Starting point of the hike is the Arthurhaus. At the Arthurhaus bus stop, you will find Manfred Marmot with his lively marmot family. Before continuing your hike, enjoy the opportunity to observe and feed these enchanting animals. The trail continues on path No. 84, passing by the Schweizerhütte dairy. In a few meters, you will always turn right at the following intersections. The cart track leads through a sparse forest, offering impressive views of the Hochkönig massif, while occasionally crossing the ski lift trail of the Roßwieslift. In winter, you can even ski on the Hochkeil with 100% organic snow.
After about 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the first photo stop: an idyllic wooden hut, a former ski lift station, with the impressive Mandlwände and the impressive Hochkönig South Wall in the background. Here, you can not only catch a glimpse of the Troiboden and the archaeological excavations, but also realize that the area has been scientifically researched for decades. Over 5000 years ago, copper ore was mined here at Hochkeil. Perhaps you are familiar with the Nebra Sky Disk, a replica of which can be seen in the mining museum in Mühlbach. The copper of this prehistoric celestial depiction comes from Mühlbach.
After three bends, you will come to a junction; turn left to reach the "Cinema on the Mountain" in a few minutes, inviting you to linger and enjoy the magnificent view before hiking the last meters to the summit of Hochkeil. Upon reaching the summit, you can overlook both your starting point, the Arthurhaus, and the entire Hochkönig massif.
