Walk uphill along the stream until you reach the highway, B311. Using the underpass proceed to the other side of the road and continue your journey along the stream. When you reach the Palfnerhof and Gollehenhof farms, cross the stream using the bridge and take the road to your right heading towards the Retteneben Alm Alpine Hut. We find this road ideal for hiking because there is very little traffic. You will come upon two more picturesque farms, Marchlschwaig and Katzlmoos, as you pass through beautiful, natural alpine countryside. Follow this road past the farmsteads of Troistein and Arlberg. After approx. 2 hours you will have reached your destination.
Should you prefer to shorten the walking part of this tour, we might suggest driving up some of the way and leaving your car in a designated area shortly before reaching the Arlberg farm. The walk to the Retteneben Alm Alpine Hut is then only about 30-45 min.
Parking Arlberg: max. 20 parking spaces, day parking only!
