The hike leads from the parking lot along the left bank of the picturesque Jägersee (also a toll road for cars) in about 1 hour to the Schwabalm. From here one of the signposted hiking trails leads through the forest, partly steep, in many serpentines past a waterfall up to the Tappenkarsee. Once at the top, the first glance at the lake, which is surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop. The Tappenkarsee is one of the largest mountain lakes in the Eastern Alps and is surrounded by steep rock faces.
The path continues along the lake to the Tappenkarseealm, located roughly in the middle of the lake shore. If you haven't had enough, you can go on to the Tappenkarseehütte. From both alpine pastures, you can enjoy the view of the lake and the mountain panorama, before you return to the Jägersee the same way. Shortly before the Jägersee, the path then turns left and at the end you circle the Jägersee.
At the end of the tour it is also worth stopping at the Gasthaus am Jägersee.

If you park at the Jägersee, the hike starts on the left bank of the Jägersee and leads over a drivable riverside path (toll road for cars, open approx. From the beginning of June to the beginning of October) in approx. 1 hour to the Schwabalm (there is also parking here) .
The 2.5 hour ascent to the Tappenkarsee begins at the Schwabalm. The well-developed hiking trail No. 722 initially leads through sparse forest and later climbs in moderately steep serpentines, past a waterfall, to the lake. Now hike along the right bank of the lake and come across the Tappenkarsee Alm in the middle of the lake. At the end of the Tappenkarsee (origin Kleinarler Ache) is the Tappenkarsseehütte. The way back is the same to Jägersee. Shortly before the Jägersee, the path then turns left and at the end you circle the Jägersee.
