On the occassion of the 25th wedding anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I. and Empress Elisabeth 1879 Radstadt planted an "Emperors limetree" near the Steirertor. In the same year the Emperor visited Radstadt, where he got an edelweissbouquet during his 30 minutes stay. In 1898 the Kaiserpromenade was built, to celebrate his 50th government anniversary.

The promenade starts at the sports centre and leads you along the Schlossstraße up to the Schloss Lerchen. At the Rupertgasse the Kaiserpromenade leads up the Schwemmberg (lower part of the Rossbrand). At the Loreto Church you will find a short hiking path, follow this path till you reach the Schlossstraße again. On the Schlossstraße you walk straight back to the sports centre.
