Description

This ski tour starts at the parking space at Gasthof Talwirt. Right at the beginning you will pass the Pertillkapelle. This was built as a thank you for a happy homecoming from the Second World War and is also intended to encourage each of us, briefly to say thank you.

The path leads relatively steeply uphill. Through the "Geissmahdloch" (a difficult, partly icy channel - this is very energy-sapping) you come to the Modereggalm (closed in winter). Continue in direction Mandlkogel. After a short descent, you go up again. Over the glacier you will finally reach the top of the Keeskogel.

At the descent, the slopes from the summit to the Modereggalm invite you to take beautiful traces into the powder snow.

This tour is not suitable for beginners, since the trail in the area of the "Geissmahdloch" is often icy and is therefore very energy-sapping. Due to the "Geissmahdloch", this tour requires skills, strength and condition. This also necessary for the descent!

A total of more than 2,100 metres in altitude have to be done, good physical condition, good orientation and glacier experience are prerequisites!

Directions

ASCENT: From the parking space at the Gasthof Talwirt you go in the direction to the Pertillbauer - at the chapel turn right over the meadow - along to the so-called "Geissmahdloch" - a very steep, difficult hike-up. You go left and cross the small river and come to the Modereggalm, 1,720 m. You go up in direction to the Mandlkogel (2,439 m). The summit can, but does not have to be climbed. After a short descent in the eastern direction (at about 2,220 m), you continue the ascent to the Keeskogel. Crossing the Gstösskees glacier, you will pass a last challenging climbing stage in serpentines to the top of the Keeskogel, 2,884 m. For the total climb, approx. 2,000 metres in altitude have to be overcome (approx. 6-7 h).

DESCENT: Along the ascent there are different descent possibilities.
