Hüttschlag: Gletschergoas

You hike directly from the village center of Hüttschlag to the starting point of the Gletschergoas via ferrata. This was also built in 2009, just like the big Kupfergeist via ferrata.

Just like the Kupfergeist via ferrata, the practice via ferrata has also got its name from a legend in Hüttschlag. The Gletschergoas was an oversized goat with four different legs, one pair of glasses and several horns. Whenever there was a snowstorm or an avalanche, the Gletschergoas was seen.

This via ferrata is a relatively easy round tour. This is also possible for beginners and not so experienced climbers.

ASCENT: From the centre of Hüttschlag, head to the farm Asthütten. Follow the sign "Klettersteig". Via a hiking trail you will reach the entrance to the via ferrata Gletschergoas in approx. 20 min.

Via ferrata: After the entry slab (B and B/C) in a horizontal traverse (B and B/C) over slabs to the right and further traverse (A and A/B) on partly grassy strips to a slabbed pillar. Over another slab (good steps, B and B/C) to a short ledge (B/C) and to a small overhang. Below this short traverse to the left (B) and over the partly somewhat rugged and earthy ramp (A/B to B).
