- Description

With touring bike, road bike or e-bike we cross here 150 km Dresden Elbland in two days. We see the big cities of Dresden, Meißen, Radebeul, Riesa and Pirna and have the opportunity to turn off into the beautiful old towns at any time. On our bike tour we also pass through small towns and villages like Coswig, Diesbar-Seußlitz, Nünchritz and on the other side of the Elbe Hirschstein, Klipphausen or Heidenau, where you can take a detour into the beautiful village centers. The route is flat and well marked on the Elbe Cycle Path and can also be ridden in one day by fast riders.
- Directions
-
We start in Dresden directly opposite the old town of Dresden at the "Königsufer". The route leads from here in a northwesterly direction, on the right side of the river Elbe in the direction of Riesa.
After we have left Dresden behind us, the cycle path passes Radebeul. The vineyards inspire us and a first stop in the village center "Altkötzschenbroda" is worthwhile. As we continue our journey, we pass through Meißen. We ride towards the magnificent castle, but leave it on the left for the time being, because we will return here later. The cycle path leads us past mills and Elbauen, we see the famous vineyards of the Elbland and many a winery lures us into the Straußwirtschaft. Very beautiful and therefore also worth seeing: The castle church Diesbar-Seußlitz with the George-Bähr-Church.
After about 50 km we reach Riesa. The large district town announces itself with its industrial buildings, but the drive through the city center is worthwhile. Here we cross the Elbe bridge and continue on the other side. Heading southwest, we roll the remaining 25 kilometers of the day to Meißen. Meißen is now a good place to spend the night. Many hotels and guesthouses in the city center offer bike-friendly options for spending the night. In the evening you should visit the old town and do not shy away from the way to the castle. The second day continues through small villages along the Elbe River in the direction of Pirna. We now see many natural beauties from the other side of the Elbe from new perspectives. Arrived in Dresden we cross the city directly below the baroque old town. Here, too, it is worth stopping for a lunch break and a detour to the state capital. Along the Elbe cycle path, the tour then passes opposite the famous Elbe castles and through the imposing steel bridge "Blaues Wunder". We reach the easternmost point of the route in Pirna. The city on the Elbe, with its world-famous marketplace, is definitely worth the visit.
Afterwards we use the bridge to change the Elbe side again and ride in the original direction of the first day. Especially the passage through Pillnitz inspires. A look into the castle grounds should not be missed. We then cross the Elbe twice more and enjoy the view over the Elbe landscape on the Elbe slopes. Our two-day tour ends at the Königsufer, in the middle of Dresden's city center.
