Adventurers big and small can go on a treasure hunt at two gold panning spots in the Rauris Valley:
- Original Bodenhaus gold panning area
- Heimalm gold panning area
The Rauris Valley - also known as the "golden valley of the Alps" - is characterized by gold mining. In the heyday of gold mining, 10% of the world's gold deposits were mined in Rauris. Today, numerous theme hiking trails and trade houses are reminiscent of this time. On the themed hiking trails in Kolm Saigurn - at the foot of the 3,106 m Hoher Sonnblick - you will discover impressive evidence of the gold diggers' time, such as the ruins of miners' houses.
Gold mining in Rauris was discontinued in the last century. Today there are three gold panning places available to visitors, where you can try your luck as a treasure hunter. Under guidance you will learn tips and tricks for gold panning, experienced people can pan for gold on their own. If you find what you are looking for, you can of course take your treasure home with you.
Original gold panning area Bodenhaus:
