Dear Mammut,
There are several reasons why we would like to participate in the Mammut Peak Project and why we particularly decided to choose Gerlach Peak as our tour summit ( more specific information about Gerlach here: http://www.summitpost.org/gerlachovsky-stit/150749) For the last four years, during winter, we have climbed many of the peaks in the polish Tatras. We believe, that we gathered enough experience and skills to move step further and start to explore Tatra Mountains at the Slovakian side which are permitted to climb during winter only with certified mountain guide. Therefore we think that taking part in the project would help us in achieving that goal. We love Tatra Mountains and seeing all the range from its highest point would be a dream come true. Also, we are convinced that undertaking the project would be extremely beneficial for us in the context of gaining experience, improving our climbing skills and self-confidence. We want to progress thus knowledge and experience acquired through the project would help us in future explorations of the Alps, and hopefully, some day also the Himalayas. Moreover, we think that ascenting Gerlach in winter conditions, where climb in ice, snow and rock is expected, will allow us to test Mammut gear in the most efficient way. Finally, we feel that summiting Gerlach which is the highest peak in Tatra Mountains and automatically, in the whole 1,500 km long Carpathian mountain chain, as well as in northern and eastern Central Europe, would be a great asset and achievement for the whole Mammut Peak Project. We hope that we presented you that we are one of the teams worth inviting for the final tour and if only you provide us with that opportunity we will be able to prove that it was the right choice.
Your sincerely,
Ice Worms
" Ice Worms have been identyfied as a species at risk of extinction. Over the years the number of Ice Worms has been rapidly decreasing so that presently only three live in Poland. To help us preserve that endangered species please allow them to return to their natural environment- the mountains" (International Organisation for Conservation of Nature, 2011)
