Description: The Säntispanorama-Route takes you from Herisau past the most beautiful areas and locations in the Appenzell hinterland. Explore Schwellbrunn, Appenzell Ausserrhoden’s highest village, boasting spectacular views of the Alpstein massif. The trail continues via Schönengrund to Urnäsch, the beating heart of Appenzeller culture. Experience the many facets of Appenzeller culture in the Museum of Appenzeller Traditions. From Urnäsch the route continues towards Hundwil and Stein. In Stein, a visit to the show dairy and the Appenzeller Ethnographic Museum is a must. The route then ascends the almost 100-metre high ‘Ganggelibrugg’ before passing the idyllic Gübsensee reservoir and returning to Herisau.
