St. Lorenz in a southerly direction, after about 1 km we reach the federal road, which we cross carefully, and then turn on to the cycle path between the shores of the lake and the road – we continue along Lake Mondsee to Scharfling – there is a 2 km long ride up to the Scharflinger Höhe (for a traffic-free, but much steeper alternative, turn right before the Gasthof Scharflinger and, after 200m of having taken the left fork, you will encounter, 300 metres later, the steep, 1 km long climb; after the steepest final stretch where you can push your bicycle and luggage if you need to, you reach the Scharflinger Höhe) – then it is slightly downhill, past the picturesque Lake Krottensee and Schloss Hüttenstein Castle – after about 1 km turn left into the village of St. Gilgen – the signs for the Mozart cycle path end at the Mozartplatz (we reach the Mozart memorial in the former district when we take a left to the lake from the centre of the village).
