- Description

The hike starts from Porta Reale in Finalborgo and it lasts roughly 4 hours.
We have chosen to take the lesser known Neviere Trail, passing through Sottoripa and going up to the Church of the 5 Bell Towers (our Lady of Loreto).
In the first part, the cobblestone pavement is surrounded by vegetable gardens, olive trees, vineyards, citrus groves, and old rural buildings.
Once at the Church of the 5 Bell Towers, you won’t be able to resist taking a photo with Finalborgo and the sea in the background.
Continue northbound into the Urta Valley up to the crossroads that climbs up under the Monte Sordo crags.
Here begins the most interesting part of the hike, nature-wise: back-to-back crags and caves that will leave you spoiled for choice.
Even if you are not a climber the thrill of checking out Grotta dell’Edera (Ivy Cave) is quite unique. Coming out of a dark tunnel, you will be rewarded by the breath-taking open sky cylinder surrounded by green trees. Even just that will make you forget all of your hard work to reach the goal.
Coming back to Finale, we recommend you finish off your hike by continuing along the slopes of the mountain until the trail merges back with Località San Bernardo road.
On the way back, follow the famous Strada Beretta which from Perti Alto town passes by Castel Gavone and Castel San Giovanni to arrive in the old town of Finalborgo. Now you can finally enjoy a lovely ice cream!
