Description

Having explored the historic town of Corte extensively, it is now time to discover the surrounding area. Not only the coastal region of the French island is exciting for visitors, but also the mountain landscape. The route leads uphill and downhill through mountains and valleys and past authentic villages, whose charm and Corsican specialities invite you to take a break between the challenging stages.

Away from the crowds of tourists, you can discover the island in a new way. This tour can be ridden as part of the GT 20 long-distance cycle route, which leads from the north to the south of Corsica.

Directions

The tour starts in the centre of Corte on the street Crs Paopli. Before the roundabout, turn left into Avenue Xavier Luciani. Keep right and turn into Avenue du Président Pierucci towards the school. Follow the road over the river Tavignano. Keep left and cross the Restonica river. At the fifth junction, turn right into Route du Calvarie. Follow this road out of the village. After a short time, you will come to the main road T20. Follow this road in a southerly direction. The road leads past the village of Casanova to Santo-Pietro-die-Venaco. Leave the road at the entrance to the village and drive into the village. Continue to Venaco. Cross the railway crossing there and leave Venaco in an easterly direction. Leave the D143 road after around 2 km and turn right to cross the Vecchio river. Continue until you reach Noceta. Pass the church of Saint Paul and follow the road to Rospigliani. At the roundabout, take the first exit and keep left to pass Vezzani. Stay on the main road and cycle to Pietroso. Continue on the main road through the forest. The road crosses at a single building complex. Keep right on this road. Further south, you will come to the river Fiumorbo. Keep right and follow the riverbed to the west. After about 10 kilometres you will reach Ghisoni.
