Description

The Col de Vergio always attracts active holidaymakers, as the pass is a good starting point for hiking tours. You can spend the night in the Castel de Vergio and explore the surrounding Corsican peaks from there. By bike, the road from Porto to Vergio is already a discovery tour. From the maritime coastal landscape, the route leads through pleasantly shady forests. The demanding route is challenging due to the constant gradient. The villages along the route offer a Corsican-style respite. At the Col de Vergio, the view opens up to the surrounding mountain peaks, which invite you to take a hike.

Road cyclists, mountain bikers and e-bikers will all get their money's worth on this exciting and panoramic tour. To explore the whole island of Corsica, the GT 20 long-distance cycle route runs from north to south, including between Porto and Vergio.

Directions

From the coastal town of Porto, the D84 road initially leads inland along the Porto river. Follow the road past the campsites. Keep right after the first hairpin bend and continue in the direction of Marignana. However, continue past this village on the left towards Évisa. Always stay on the main road. Leave the village in an easterly direction. After about one kilometre, the D70 coming from Cristinacce joins the D84. Turn left to continue to the pass road. There are now more paths to the left and right, but stay on the tarmac main road. Keep right before Paisolu d'Aitone and drive past the car park that follows. From there, it is only a few kilometres to the col, where you can take a well-earned break at the statue of Christ and a few metres further on, at Castel de Vergio, the tour ends.
