Description
This mountain has special characteristics: the sacred fir tree with seven trunks, the herb garden, the three drinking troughs, Lochvisier Stein menhir-rock, and the wind organ on nearby Mount Palnock. The “Scala Paradisi” leads up to the summit of Mirnock (30 steps), from where there is a marvellous view over Millstätter See, the Hohe Tauern and Grossglockner, the
tallest peak in Austria.
Directions
from Gasthaus Klammer you take an unpaved road to Gingerhütte refuge. You then pass by Gingeralm shepherd’s hut, Rindernock hill and up to the top of Mirnock where the Kult and Kloster lines meet.

The way down passes by Gotzeralm shepherd’s hut, “Kalten Brunn” lookout spot, and then passes through a forest road to Höher farm before arriving at Gasthaus Klammer.

Background: Klammer inn was where the great ski champion Franz Klammer was born. In addition to the gold medal he won in the men’s downhill event at the Innsbruck Winter Olympics in 1976, Klammer won the World Ski Championships on several occasions and the World Cup four times. He also came first at least once in all the classic downhill races, winning four times on the Hahnenkamm piste in Kitzbühel and in Val Gardena, and three times on the Lauberhorn in Wengen. It is not unusual to see him in this area.
