The history of the picturesque village of Eibach begins with the "Nassau period" in the 13th century. In 1313, the village is mentioned for the first time in a document as "Ibach". It was one of originally three villages located in the three valleys around Eibach. The name Eibacher Kuckuck also dates back to the Middle Ages, probably a remnant from a dispute over land ownership. It is said that the Eibachers received land that they were not supposed to have. Today the people of Eibach bear the name Kuckuck with pride. It is not for nothing that the village was almost allowed to bear the title Bad Eibach. In 2004, the famous healing spring was renewed and a graduation house was built, which is also touched by the Kuckucksweg and the enchanting wide views bring body and soul to rest. This path is especially captivating because of its dreamlike views, which surprise the hiker on his way around the settlement with always new perspectives on enchanting scenery. The area is characterized mainly by the centuries-long search for iron ore, which has left visible depressions at the edge of the path. How close you are to the original nature is also shown by the fact that the Cuckoo Trail passes the Kanzelstein nature reserve as well as bird sanctuaries. Perhaps you will hear the Eibach cuckoo calling on your way here?In the forest you will find old wild cherry trees, in the fields rich meadow orchards, which are still used for the production of spirits. Part of your path is naturally accompanied by the Eibach stream. At the end of the hike, a stop at the cozy Kanzelstein Inn is worthwhile, which has also been awarded the accolade of "Qualitätsgastgeber Wanderbares Deutschland".
