Close to the pass village and holiday resort of Maloja at the western end of Lake Sils, the Inn begins its long journey as a rushing mountain stream. Not far from its source lies the European watershed at the Piz Lunghin. Maloja is the starting point of the Inn cycle route. Initially on the Upper Engadin main road, the cycle path leads along the crystal-clear and unique Lake Sils to Sils and on, along a natural road, on the right bank of the impressive Lake Silvaplana to Silvaplana. In good wind conditions, many colourful kite surfers, surfers and sailors cavort on this lake. A first-class sporting spectacle. Maloja, Sils and Silvaplana are popular and traditional summer and winter holiday resorts on the Upper Engadin lake landscape. The tourist centre of the Upper Engadin is St. Moritz, world-famous as a spa and winter sports resort. In 1928 and 1948 St. Moritz was the venue of the Winter Olympics games. The cycle route from St. Moritz to Celerina runs past Lej da San Murezzan and the idyllic little Lej da Staz. Not to be overlooked is the prominent church of San Gian, situated on a hill, the oldest part of which dates from the 13th century. The route continues via Punt Muragl and past the airfield to the idyllically situated Lej da Gravatscha and from the holiday resort of Bever to the proud pass village of La Punt Chamues-ch at the foot of the Albula Pass.

The first section from Maloja to Sils officially leads along the cantonal road, which is partly very busy. As an alternative, the demanding mountain bike path via Isola on the other side of the valley can be used or the stage can be started in Sils.
- Tips
-
The ascent after the lake of St. Moritz to the Hotel Waldhaus am See is quite steep. If you want to avoid this, go straight on after the Ovaverva indoor swimming pool to the St. Moritz Youth Hostel and then up into the forest and along the natural road to Lej da Staz.
The Inn cycle route is marked with the number 65 of Cycling in Switzerland.
Very frequented in the high season.
