- Description
-
The Fanellhorn allows views down into part of the Vals Valley, which remains hidden to most visitors. In the south-east of the mountain there are large mountain lakes and the second largest glacier in the Vals Valley with the Fanell glacier. The snow-covered mountains of the Adula massif and the rugged rocky peaks in the Rheinwald and Misox seem close enough to touch from the summit.
- Directions
-
The road from Zervreila Restaurant to the chapel is paved so for the first half an hour you will be walking on asphalt. The mountain trail starts at the chapel.
From the car park next to the Zervreila chapel (1,985 m) on the marked mountain trail minutes to Guraletsch Lake (2,409 m) in 1 hour 30 minutes. From there follow the markings for 1 hour 15 minutes to the deepest dip in the Fanellgrätli ridge (2,710 m). From here follow the blue and white markings first that start out near the north-east ridge for another 1 hour 15 minutes and later lead along the middle of the eastern slope to the peak of the Fanellhorn (3,124 m).
